CONSTITUTION
1.
NAME
The name of
the organisation shall be the ARDGLASS YOUTH CLUB
1.2 The Management Committee
The Management Committee will be responsible for managing the Ardglass Community Centre and the Ardglass Youth Club
2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
2.1
The aims and objectives of the Management Committee of the Community
Centre and the Ardglass Youth Club are to promote the welfare and quality of
life of the people of Ardglass and surrounding district, regardless of gender,
race, colour, nationality, religion or political creed, by associating the
statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and residents in a common effort
to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interest of social
welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of
improving the conditions of life for the residents. The Youth Club shall have a
special responsibility of promoting and providing facilities for young people
between the ages of four and twenty five. The Community Centre has its own
constitution and if there is any conflict between the two constitutions,
Community Centre Constitution will have precedence.
2.2 In furtherance of the above
aims but not further or otherwise the Club are to:
(a)
Establish, maintain and equip premises and facilities where the youth in
the area of Ardglass can benefit from the objects of the Club,
(b)
Appoint qualified Youth Leaders, assistant Youth Leaders and other staff
as required,
(c)
Provide child protection practices and information and refer those in
need of advice to the relevant agencies,
(d)
Provide or assist in providing classes, lectures, exhibitions, outings
and events,
(e)
Procure to be written and printed, published, issued, distributed and
circulated reports, or periodicals, books, pamphlets, leaflets or other
documents or information affecting young people,
(f)
Build up a library and information bank on youth matters,
(g)
Provide facilities for children so as to enable parents to benefit from
the objects of the Club,
(h)
Recruit, train and employ volunteers with relevant skills for the
furtherance of the above aims,
(i)
Promote and carry out or assist in promoting and carrying out research,
surveys and investigations into the experience and needs of the young in the
area of benefit, provided the useful results are published,
(j)
Co-operate to such extent as may be necessary with statutory authorities
and voluntary organisations engaged in the furtherance of the above objects or
any of them,
(k)
Raise and accept money by way of grants, donations, bequests, legacies or
other lawful method, and give, donate or disburse grants and loans to such
related organisations or projects as are by law deemed charitable provided that
in the exercise thereof the Club shall not engage in any form of permanent
trading,
(l)
Purchase, take or lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any
property and any rights and privileges necessary for the attainment of the said
objects and construct, maintain and alter any buildings or edifices so necessary
as aforesaid,
(m)
Rent property for the benefit of the Club,
(n)
Employ and pay any person or persons to supervise, organise and carry on
the work of the Club and make all reasonable and necessary provision for the
payment of remuneration to employees,
(o)
All such other lawful things as are necessary for the attainments of the
said objects.
3.
POWERS
The
Club shall be a charitable non-profit making unincorporated entity.
4.
AFFILIATION
The
Club shall be affiliated to the Education and Library Board
The
Club shall have no direct link, formal or informal, with any political or
religious body or any other organisation, nor shall it leave itself open to
undue influence by any such body.
Notwithstanding this, the Executive Board and its Officers shall be required to maintain close contact with any party or group, which may help promote and achieve the objects of the Club.
